Trump had Whataburger brought to his jet in Texas
President-elect Donald Trump paid a visit to the Rio Grande Valley last week to attend Elon Musk’s latest SpaceX launch, and before he left, the famous fan of fast food got another taste of Texas.
As Trump and his team loaded into his jet Wednesday, the Brownsville Police Department snapped a few photos of officers carrying orange-and-white to-go bags from Whataburger across the tarmac and onto the plane.
The Police Department posted the photos to social media, prompting either barbs or praise from polarized commenters. But some comments transcended politics:
• "imagine being the WB manager telling the crew ‘aight no pressure but we’re making burgers for the president’"
• "Should’ve taken him some tacos de bistek instead of whataburger"
In January 2019, Trump famously ordered more than $5,000 worth of catering from Wendy’s, Burger King and McDonald’s when he hosted the Clemson Tigers football team at the White House to celebrate its NCAA championship.
The New Yorker looked at the president’s fast food fandom in a story days later.
'Trump’s affinity for fast food has been well documented since the earliest days of his public life,' The New Yorker wrote. 'In the nineties and early two-thousands, he filmed commercials for Pizza Hut and McDonald’s.'
